Trailer of the Day – Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 looks freaking awesome. The story is a little… well, over the top is an understatement, but the gameplay looks like everything I wanted and more. Supporting many different multiplayer modes with full blown campaign co-op, this is the ultimate game for my Online Collection. Oh yeah, and I get to play as Leon again, which is just icing on the wedding cake.

Resident Evil 6 comes out on October 2, 2012

Trailer of the Day – Dead or Alive 5

This was the trailer shown for the newest entry in the Dead or Alive series; Dead or Alive 5. Looks fantastic and it also looks like they’re including characters from the Virtua Fighter series this time around! Now, I’m a pretty big fan of this unappreciated series, and I also do enjoy some Virtua Fighter so to see this happen, well… it just blew my mind.

Official Release Date of Dead or Alive 5 will be September 25, 2012. Not too much longer now!

Mario Tennis Open

Hey everyone, today will be my first 3DS addition to the collection, Mario Tennis Open is a very addicting arcade sports game with tons of content to keep you playing for awhile. The single player is pretty awesome, but online play always adds to that experience right?! Well… it’s pretty good, but it does have some flaws.

When you connect to the network, you only get two options: Exibition Match (Friends) and Open Match (Regional Opponents). Exibition only offers Singles and Doubles game modes in an Open match. Adding further to this, you only really get to game modes. Tie Breaker for a quick match and Extended which is just a 2-Game, 1-Set match for… a quick match, then of course, you pick any of the game’s available courts to begin.  Open match is exactly the same with the exception of Rating, which will be added or taken depending on whether you win or lose.

This game is very fun, but the online play isn’t where the real focus is unfortunately, so I can’t recommend it a whole lot for the online aspect alone. If you’re into the series and bought it for both single and multiplayer though, feel free to add me for some quick but entertaining matches!

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers

I know what you’re thinking. “Why is this guy posting a Genesis game in his collection of Online games?!” Well, it’s pretty weird, I’m not going to lie. See, I recently learned in the latest issue of Nintendo Power that the Genesis version of this game on the Wii Virtual Console apparently has online play. I can’t express how weird it is to say that. I’m here to confirm it though. This is a Sega Genesis game, on a Nintendo console, that has been enhanced with online features.

So here’s the low down. This game’s online features are pretty bare, but I pretty much expected that going in. You can either face off with a friend or take on a random player. It’s pretty lag free actually, and for some reason I find it bizarre that it runs perfectly. The only real issue I have is with in the Genesis version itself. I mean, the audio is so bad that I think the speakers on my TV are going out as a result.

Anyways, if you’re up for a fight, give me your friend code and we’ll have a nice sparring match, although I’m pretty rusty. As always, my code is below!

Trailer of the Day – Code of Princess

Code of Princess was announced during E3 to be published in North America by Atlus USA. It’s basically an RPG/Beat em’ up in the vein of Guardian Heroes. The most notable thing about this game is it’s use of Nintendo Network on the box art. This game is going to have both local and online 4 player co-op and versus modes to keep things interesting. That sounds awesome in my book! On a side note, I’m loving the art style!

Sonic Colors

Alright, so Sonic Colors is an awesome action/platformer game, but it’s online functions are pretty limited, so this will be kind of a dull and short entry in my collection. However if you do own the game, this will be relevant to your interests!

So basically, the only online component in this game are leaderboards. Exciting right? Well, if you are like me, and absolutely LOVE Sonic, you always go back to your favorite stages and beat your old scores or try and get that S Rank in every stage! This is nothing more than gamers competing for that top bracket on their friends list. If you own this game and are up for a little friendly competition, add me to your list and I’ll do the same!

Come on, step it up!

New Phantasy Star Online 2 Footage

This video basically shows off a new planet and some new enemies that go along with it.

This is just an overview of the story. Unfortunately, it’s all in Japanese so there’s not much else I can tell you about it.

Last up is an array of weapons, how different weapon styles look, and shows off a snow area we haven’t seen yet.

That’s all I can share with you right now. I’m super excited for Phantasy Star Online 2, as I’m a huge fan of the series in general. Hell, Phantasy Star Online is my favorite game of all time! If this has peaked your interest be sure to check out http://www.pso-world.com/ to get caught up on everything Phantasy Star! (As well as the site I pulled this news from!)
